It's that time again! Presenting BDLM fan of the Month for May '06!
This month we spotlight Lisa McDonald, aka 'Hard-ta-Beat'. As usual, our questions will be in black, Lisa's answers in white. Enjoy!
1. Could you please tell us race fans a little about yourself; where you are from and how you got started going Late Model Racing?
Well, I grew up in Salamanca and would go to Smethport on occasion. It wasnt til I moved out to the Jamestown area that I started going to Stateline. Actually didnt go for about 10 years cuz guys just dont seem to understand that females like to watch racing too.
2. Who is your favorite late model driver and do you have memories of your favorite driver on or off the track you would like to share with us?
I do like watching Eckert and locally Hess jr., but I dont have to like anyone in particular. I just enjoy being at the track on any given night and watching the cars. It was great to see Hess at the DTWC last fall though. Im not a big fan of the emods, but i do like watching Chub drive his.
3. Tell us of some tracks you like to attend, and if you could be an owner for one year what are some things you would change to make it more fan and driver friendly?
Lol, I will go to just about any track as long as it gets me away for a
weekend. I do try to hit a dirt track when im outta town for a nascar race. This year i was lucky enough to hit Volusia and will be going over to Bulls Gap in august.
If I were an owner....probably the biggest thing I would change would be to make the track more kid friendly. They dont have the attention span that most adults do. I would want a playground put in for them, have more fan apprectiation days and have the drivers put the kids in the cars to see what they are like. If you dont keep the kids interested you wont have the next generation of drivers and fans.
4. I really love the food at _____track. Can't friggin stand it at______ .
Any track that sells onion rings I consider having good food..... haven't really run into any bad food yet.
5. Give us your (2) Best Memories and (2) worst at the local dirt track bull rings.
Best would have to be watching Eckert win at Tri-City last year and sitting up in turn 1 at Stateline watching Bloomquist spin out.
I cant really think of anything that was bad.
6. Should (BEER) be banned from local dirt tracks and if (YES) please give us your opinion why?
No, not really, but they should try to control how much you can purchase.
7. Word Association: We mention something, you tell us the first thing that pops into your mind.
A. Bartonfan - Can I plead the 5th on this one??
B. Dave Hess Jr #44 - Great young driver...hope he goes alot farther than just locally.
C. Stateline Speedway - Saturday nights
D. U.L.M.S. - Hopefully they can make it work this year.
E. Eldora Speedway - Great track to go to....cant wait for June to get here.
F. Dick Barton # 28B - He's ok, I just like busting on his self-proclaimed biggest fan.
G. Bill's Dirt Late Models - So much better than the other message boards.
8. If you were a track owner who would you like behind the sticks and behind the mic at your facility?
Lol, I wouldnt mind having mother nature there....maybe then we would be sure to have nice weather and no rain-outs.
9. Besides going to Dirt Track Races what other hobbies does this Hard-ta-Beat fan enjoy doing on her off time?
I can usually be found at a casino, on the internet, or hanging out at a beach during the summer.
10. Where can we expect seeing Lisa McDonald this upcoming year at the races?
I'll be somewhere, just all depends on what is going on at what tracks as to which one I'll be at.
Thank-You Hard-Ta-Beat for being the next victim here at BDLM'S! Can't you just feel the love after that one? Ahhhh.
