Sept 5 th , 2006 - Randy Lobb!

It's been entirely too long but we're back with a new 10Q. This time we got Randy Lobb to answer a few. Randy is a regular in the region who has several career wins on the S/E circuit and has been very strong all season.

1.We’ve seen the Lobbster Racing shirts a while now, but for those who might not know you, tell us a bit about yourself and how long you have been racing.

I have been racing for about 15 years now. I have two kids. Brittney is 3 and Brandon is 1. I have been married to my wife Amy for seven years. I am currently employed at Lobbs auto sales and service, until I fire myself. Started in the spectator class and then jumped to Limited Late then on to Supers.

2.You race late models, often times against your brother. What’s it like lining up next to John? Do you race him differently?

At first it was a little intimidating because I always looked up to him, but now he is just another car to pass.

3.Where did the 28 come from that both you and John have painted on the side of your race cars?

My grandfather owned a few cars in the ‘50's and ‘60's and father also had #28 and then John and I took over the #.

4.We heard that each spring the Lobbs and Dick Barton travel to Eastbay to drink a lot of beer, and watch a little racing. Any good Florida stories that can be told to the public? Is there any chance we’ll ever see the 28L unload at Eastbay?

Road rage (like the movie Days of Thunder) between myself and my brother. Steve Halpainy and Barton on a one way street not sober. What happens in Florida stays in Florida. Women not wanted. Chances of me at Eastbay is like me hitting the lottery because you have to have money.

5.What would you say are the three best and the three worst racing memories to this point in your racing career?

Winning the Limited Late Model Championship, Winning my first Late Model Feature, Passing Barton for a win!! Worst- Knocking the wall down at Stateline the second night out in a Late Model, Going to Challenger and having to run the F Main, Running second twice in two big races and having Dave Scott spin out in front of you (and one of those nights was my birthday).

6. What is the biggest goal for Lobbster Racing right now?

Consistency, Upgrading my equipment, like to see what I could do with new equipment.

7. The cost to run a competitive dirt late model has spun out of control in the last 10 years. What do you see happening to the class at a local/regional level? What would you like to see happen?

Possible Crate Motors. Let the drivers back into the equation.

8. Word association – We’ll mention something and you give us the first thing that comes to your mind:

John Lobb (crabass. Always been there for me)
Chub Frank (ball buster. turned my program around)
Salamanca Beverage (thank you)
Stateline Speedway (where do I start)
Shawbucks (helped get me my first alum.motor and a lot of hangovers)
Dick Barton (prick!!needs golf lessons, good friend )

9. Is there any particular race or pass during a race that stands out as one of your proudest moments?

Winning my first Late model feature and having my dad and brother both there.

10. Who are the guys that you grew up watching locally and/or nationally that made you want to race dirt cars?

I grew up watching my dad. I really didnt care much for racing, I was into football, baseball and girls.

Special thanks to Randy for giving us a few minutes. For more info on the 28L team head over to LobbsterRacing.com!.
